THE INTERVIEW
MARCH 26th, 2015
Annalee (Q): Linda, how did you begin in the field you are in today?
Linda(A): I started working, well, my original educational background is in Biochemistry, and I worked as a research scientist for 15 years. My extensive study of brain chemistry related to emotional, psychological, even physically due to emotions, has led me to try a different form of medicine then the Biotechnology field.
Annalee (Q): Who inspired you to get more into Holistic work?
Linda(A): I became very fond of a Colleague of mine's work in Boulder, and I followed her once to a new age, yoga-like class, called Hatha Yoga. It's a combo class, that taught self-awareness along with body healing. And the rest is history.
Annalee(Q): So you were in the Western Medicine field for a while, mainly in Boston, correct? What is your experience dealing with harsh chemicals and shady work with animals? Did it put any kind of mental or physical stress on you?
Linda(A): For a while I was in Pharmaceutical medicine industry, and I made a good living off of being a developer for the company GenSyme the 1990’s. (I didn't work much with Animals), more so actual patients. I was working on a nasally-injected spray for Lou Gehrig's disease. I ended up leaving the project after 5 years because some patients did not survive our basic trials in the early stages, and I felt morally uncomfortable with that.
Annalee(Q): You wanted to heal in a cleaner way.
Linda(A): Precisely, yes.
Annalee(Q): What have you seen in Holistic Medicine that you didn't see in Western Medicine?
Linda(A): A definite sense of self security. I help my clients help themselves with implemented tricks here and there, but there is no gimmick, the healing is within yourself. I refuse to write a prescription for someone I think can expel their problems in a safe, non-chemically induced way. I don't want to handle you a pill and say, 'take this it will fix you.' It won't 95% of the time, because you have to want change, and (character) change doesn't come from Pharmaceuticals.
